Cairo-Fulton Freight Depot is the oldest remaining building in Hope. Formerly the Stephen's Grocery Company, this building was donated to the City of Hope by the Stephen's family on September 4, 2001. Renovations were made possible through grants from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. The building was also located on the opposite side of the tracks when it was originally built but now rests at 200 E. Division St.
Contained in the building is the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council, a community conference room and the Paul W. Klipsch Museum.
Just outside to the east of the building is a nice garden available to walk through after touring the museum.
The two pictures below are of the conference room and a portion of an inside hallway.
Pictured above is a photo of the building just after the old metal siding had been removed, exposing the original oak boards. The depot has come a long way in its most recent transformation.
